Once upon a time there was a lovely actress named Ethelyn Friend. She had lots of good hair, cut rather short. Ethie was chosen to play the role of Professor Vivian Bearing in our forthcoming production of WIT, and she was very happy.
The role of Vivian Bearing is legendary in the modern theatre. Not only is it a great role, but it asks for something a little extra on the part of those who play it. Vivian Bearing is undergoing radical chemotherapy as a patient with advanced ovarian cancer--and this means she has lost all her hair. So Ethie had to lose all her hair too---though thankfully not because of chemo. Instead, she produced some barber's clippers.
And then, with the help of some able assistants, she went to work.
And in almost no time she was all done! Though this is not quite the end of the story...
