2019–20 Season Auditions

Audition Notice


Theatreworks, located in Colorado Springs, CO, will be holding Equity and non-Equity auditions for our 2019-2020 Season. All positions are paid. Theatreworks operates under an SPT Agreement with Actors’ Equity Association. Auditions are by appointment only.

Theatreworks encourages all local actors to participate in the 2019-2020 Season Audition as no other auditions will be held during the season.

Theatreworks is committed to diversity and we encourage performers of all ethnicity, gender identities, and ages, as well as performers with disabilities, to attend every audition. The genders indicated are the genders of the characters. We are open to actors of any gender in any role.

The theater is located in the Ent Center for the Arts on the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs campus. Parking is free.

Preparation

Prepare two contrasting monologues no more than 2 minutes each.

Show 1: Rehearsals Begin 7/30/19; Opens 8/22/19; Closes 9/8/19.
Actor 1: F, 20s-30s, Black. A beautiful mysterious maid and maybe wise one who has a way with words and Pall Mall cigarettes. Who is she? What is she? Why is she? She is as loving as she is shocking.

Show 2: Rehearsals begin 9/17/19; Opens 10/10/19, Closes 10/27/19.
All characters can be played by any race or ethnicity.

Seeking 8 actors, all genders, all ages, to play multiple characters in a fast-paced physical romp around the globe. Physical skills (such as circus, clowning, etc.) and comedy. This play requires a racially and ethnically diverse cast, so we especially encourage actors of color to audition.

Show 4: Rehearsals Begin 1/7/20, Opens 1/30/20, Closes 2/16/20.
Actor 1: F, Mid-late 20s, Asian-American.
Character 1- Quick-witted. Unashamed bravado that might be masking insecurity.
Character 2- Abrasive. She moves fast.
Actor 2: F, Late 30s, Any ethnicity.
Character 1- Quiet anger. Nervous. Tense.
Character 2- Extremely busy. Totally sincere ...or is she?
Actor 3: F, Early 20s, White.
Character 1- Eager. Smart. Easygoing. A people-pleaser.
Character 2- Polite mask. Sharp-minded.
Character 3- A talker. Energetic and excitable. Wears her emotions on her sleeve.
Actor 4: M, Barely 20 years old, Black.
Character 1- Smart. Observant. Focused. Like-able.
Character 2- Attentive, Friendly in a slightly annoying way.
Character 3- Confident. Smooth.
Actor 5: M, Late 30s, Any ethnicity.
Character 1- Frustrated and tired but still moving.
Actor 6: M, late 20s, White.
Character 1- Determined. Anxious. Frustrated with the status quo but not going to change it.
Character 2- Matter of fact. Unapologetic.

Actor 1: any gender and race, ages 35-75

Actors play multiple roles over a three part cycle. Actors should be comfortable with movement and excited about heightened language.
