Portals are gold spaces equipped with immersive audiovisual technology. When you enter a Portal, you come face-to-face with someone in a distant Portal live and full-body, as if in the same room.

The Portal Project from Shared Studios is currently at UCCS and will travel to the Ent Center for the Arts on October 15 for a one-month engagement. Through the use of technology in a creative way, we are seeking to bring together students, teachers, performing and visual artists and thought-leaders across the world to exchange ideas and develop new perspectives.

The UCCS_Portal installation at the Ent Center for the Arts will be hosted by UCCS Galleries of Contemporary Art (GOCA) and Imagination Celebration.  The UCCS and greater community alike are invited to explore important issues through honest conversation with people across the globe. With Portals located around the world, participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and develop quality connections with people in Berlin, Gaza, Yangon, Erbil, Mexico City, and domestic U.S. sites as well.

GOCA is bringing the Portal to the Ent Center for the Arts as part of the AWOL: Art WithOut Limits public sculpture program. Art WithOutLimits features a wide range of approaches to public sculpture. Creating community through shared experiences with art is a guiding vision of this program.

The UCCS_Portal will be sited on the east side of the Ent Center for the Arts, 5225 N. Nevada Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO, 80918. Please note parking in the lots surrounding the Ent Center is largely free and accessible to visitors as well as UCCS students, faculty and staff.  Register here to reserve a time to connect with a specific Portal.
