Jon Forshee - Apokatastasis, an original composition for 10 players + electronics
Throughout history, structure and meaning in the arts have been entwined in an interdependent relationship, each creating, defining and informing the other. The expressive power of this binding relationship is uniquely striking in music. In the world premiere of this new work, UCCS faculty member Jon Forshee engages a special case of such musical meaning, excavated at the intersections of music and literature—structures of ancient Jewish apocalyptic texts examined in light of traditional musical forms. The performance of Apokatastasis is underwritten by the CU President’s Fund for the Humanities.
