Get ready for Brazilian movements and rhythms when samba dancers hit the stage at BRILLIANT. GOCA has enlisted the help of Luciana Da Silva, native Brazilian and local dancer, to keep the energy level high and inspire you to move during the performance.
Da Silva was born in South Brazil to owners of a disco club, a place that exposed her to artists, music, and dance at an early age. In her teen years she started dancing the traditional partner dances of South Brazil. After her arrival in the USA, Da Silva began her studies in belly dance and flamenco. She traveled to Spain to experience flamenco firsthand and then continued her studies in Denver.
But Brazilian Dances were calling her back home and she started to deepen her studies in Samba and Afro-Brazilian. Da Silva returns home once a year, spending time in Rio de Janeiro and Bahia to deepen her studies of Samba and Afro-Brazilian Dances. Da Silva is the director and choreographer of Sambrasil Dance Company, and teaches Samba at Colorado College and other dances at the Colorado Springs Conservatory.
