If you have been following us for a while, you have probably seen we have an awesome lecture series called ChitChat. And if you’re new to the gallery or want to hear more about some really cool events we have coming up for you to enjoy, this post is definitely for you.
ChitChat is what happens when you combine two expert speakers on two diverse topics. This is one of our most popular programs for a reason: it’s an interactive evening that lets people explore art and culture in a hands-on way (and adding a little beer and wine to the equation definitely helps too.)
Our first ChitChat for 2016 will be Musical Energy & Future Lights. The featured speakers will be Josep Cabelle-Domenech, from the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, who will give a lecture on musical energy. We will also have Lucas Schiff from Nimbus 9, who will talk about future lighting technology. This will take place on Thursday, April 14 at 6 pm.
On Tuesday, April 26th, we will have our next ChitChat called Guerilla Placemaking + Petry and Politics. This will feature Mark Lakeman of the City Repair Project, who will talk about urban permaculture. Art Goodtimes, our second speaker, who is a poet and San Migue County Commissioner, will give a talk on poetry and politics.
On Thursday May 5th, we will have a talk featuring Lemurs & Local Music. Krista Fish, who is from Colorado College’s Anthropology depatment, will talk all about lemurs. Kate Perdoni, from the band Eros and the Eschaton, will give a talk about the local Colorado Springs music scene.
Our final ChitChat of the season, Burnt Food + Chemistry of Color, will take place on Thursday, May 19th at 7 pm. Brother Luck of Brother Luck Street Eats will chat about burnt food and Amanda Bowman, a chemistry professor at Colorado College, will talk about the chemistry of color.
Tickets for ChitChats are $10 (donation), unless you are a UCCS student or GOCA PAC member, which will get you in FREE. Either way, you’ll have a memorable night where you will walk away with new knowledge and something to think about for years to come. Can’t wait to see you there!
