With work that ranges from wearables and 3D printing to interactive art and installations, Kristin Stransky is featured in BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS, currently on view at GOCA 121 in downtown Colorado Springs.
Stransky’s art is engaging and often playful in how it focuses on social interaction, gender socialization, and cultural expectations. Her piece, #youDidntMeanWhatYouSay, uses wood, electronics, and Twitter to explore the internet and the tropes of bringing virtual space into the physical.
Visual patterns are created by activating the buttons on the interface. Inadvertently, the user creates a light show and spurs a tweet read aloud with the word represented on the last button pressed.
This results in an ever dynamic experience for each user—come experience it for yourself before BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS closes on August 29, 2015.
