One might ask what the University Center and the Ent Center for the Arts have in common and the answer would simply be “the student experience.” The mission of the University Center is “to provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment through programming, educational opportunities, services, and facilities,” for all students. The hope is to bring that same mission into the Ent Center for the Arts, providing opportunities to not only increase the exposure of UCCS students to the arts, but to increase opportunities for students to connect and engage with each other, staff, faculty, and community members through a variety of activities, experiences, and offered services.
To achieve these goals, the Ent Center will act as a satellite University Center location for many of the activities and services that are currently found in the University Center. Students will find plenty of study space throughout lobby areas with a variety of seating options and plenty of electric outlets for all their devices. The information desk located in the Ent Center lobby will provide the same services as in the UC, including purchasing stamps, exam books, selling event tickets, Lion One Card campus ID services, parking and bus passes. The information desks will also provide directions and information about the campus. The University Center, Student Activities Office, all Student clubs as well as any campus departments or organizations will have opportunities to reserve and use space in the Ent Center for their student focused activities as well.
Student employees also play a critical role in staffing at the Ent Center, and those interested in working there will want watch for job opportunities posting later this fall.
The opportunities for student experiences and engagement at the Ent Center are limitless. The University Center team is pleased to be playing a role in the Ent Center, helping support students and creating engaging experiences through which we all can learn, grow, and be entertained together.
