It’s a bit early to announce what we’ll see, but as always, we’ll book the very best of London theatre rounded out with extraordinary special guests.
As always, we gather to talk about the plays after breakfast, finding time to connect to the work on stage and to each other. Very often we have special guests join us for the discussions—past visitors include John Lahr, Sir Tom Stoppard, Michael Frayn, Mark Rylance, Simon Russell Beale, and Janet McTeer. We’ll talk some more at our fabulous group dinner in a great London restaurant.
We like to think our London Theatre Tour gives you everything you might hope for: great theatre in great company, in one of the most vibrant cities in the world. The tour sold out quickly in 2019—yet another good reason to consider making your reservations right away. London is always wonderful, and this promises to be a very special year.
Shows To Be Announced
Our trip will feature heavy hitters and up-and-comers – with some of the best playwrights of the last 60 years, some of the most sought-after directors, and actors worthy of attention in every show. Beyond the stellar performances, these plays will make for wonderful conversation as they each connect to the other in some intriguing way. They should challenge as much as they entertain.
Accomodations
This is a five-star tour, so we'll stay at the The Royal Horseguards Hotel, recipient of the 2010 AA London Hotel of the Year award. Selected in part due to its successful transition from a commercial four star to an impressive five star property, the Royal Horseguards features world-renowned chefs and a legacy that dates back over 120 years. This exceptional hotel is situated right in the heart of the west end, within easy walking distance of most theaters, the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, and the Thames. Check out their website.
Morning Meetings
This is what makes this tour different from the rest. Each morning, we gather and talk about the plays with Theatreworks' artistic director, Caitlin Lowans. Sounds simple enough, but what it does is something quite special. Not only does it better connect us with the work, but it connects us to each other.
As if that's not enough, we also frequently have very special guests join in on our discussions.
So don't sleep in, you won't want to miss these meetings—they're the best part according to past travelers!
Activities
Something extra (for no extra cost)
London, in our opinion, is one of the most incredible cities in the world. So here's our promise to you: you'll have plenty of time to explore it! World-class museums and galleries are within walking distance of the hotel, as are fine restaurants, distinct neighborhoods, sprawling parks and of course the River Thames.
