September 10, 2020 | 6:00 PM
MU/巫 is a shamanic storytelling theatrical experience where ancestral traditions are transmuted through mesmerizing dance, music, and electronic soundscapes. Moving between the past, present, and future, Dohee Lee guides audiences on a mythological journey across continents and seas, telling the narratives of women who utilize mysticism and environmental spiritualism as forms of indigenous resistance and activism.
Born on Jeju Island, South Korea, Dohee Lee’s art practice interweaves her professional training in Korean shamanism with contemporary, experimental performance techniques. She is the recipient of a 2018 Guggenheim Fellowship and the 2016 Herb Alpert Award in Music. Lee is the Fall 2020 Fellow at the UCCS Heller Center for Arts and Humanities.
