To Our Ticket Holders:
On last Wednesday evening, I watched the final dress rehearsal of Theatreworks' production of AN ILIAD, featuring two glorious performances in a world created by a masterful director and design team. It was a stirring example of the power of live performance: one actor (Erik Sandvold, featured above), one cellist, and an epic story. It reminded me of the best of what it is to be human. One of the best things about us is our ability to share stories.
In this time, as you likely already know, how we share stories is one of so many things that are changing. Because of COVID-19, we have cancelled all performances at the Ent Center and for Theatreworks through the end of May.
Theatreworks will be back! The doors will re-open, the curtains (if we had them!) would rise, the community will go on. Regretfully, we will not be able to bring you either AN ILIAD or PASSION PLAY, a story I was so excited to direct and to share with the Colorado Springs community.
I hope that you all are giving yourselves time. Time to maintain your health, time to connect with loved ones, time to read a great book. All of you are part of a theatre community because you believe in the gift of togetherness. We’ll be working to find ways to sneak that togetherness into our lives safely, through social media, through phone calls. During the next few months, the Theatreworks staff will be exploring the digital world along with so many of you; we're exploring how to do virtual costume tutorials, sneak peek videos, and other snippets into our arts world.
I look forward to sharing space with you in in the spring.
Take care of each other. Take care of yourselves. See you soon.
In gratitude for all you bring,
The Theatreworks Team
Caitlin, Elena, Dan, and Pheobe
